Year: 2017 ■ Time span: 1 month ■ Type: concept - school project
Brief
The designed device is intended for ecological and energy self-sufficient aimed houses equipped with solar panels on their roofs. The shaping of the device evokes the propagation of energy waves, which subliminally underlines its function and intention. Main aim of the design, chosen colors and textures was to be the unobtrusive part of the modern interior and fit into it. Also to be a visually attractive piece of technology compared to the technical and pure utilitarian devices which have to be hidden in the cellar or be put outside the house.
Description
Device uses a modular system of variable amount of battery modules, that contain 21700 Li-Ion cells. The individual modules are connected to each other and the central part by connectors and cables. In the central part, there are distribution lines and fuses for the power supply from the solar panels, a battery charging regulator and cooling system and a voltage converter from 12 V to 230 V, from which energy flows into the home electrical network. The indicator of the level of charge is an energy-efficient LED light around the central circle.
The energy capacity of the entire device in the presented configuration is 16.6 kWh, which will reliably cover the daily demands of an average household in geographical location of Central Europe with its year's average sunlight. The total weight of the modules without the central part is ca. 50 kg. If necessary, the system can be shrunk or expanded with additional modules thanks to the designed system of the wall mounting using shape interlocks, which ensure the concentricity of the individual parts and enable easy assembly. The covers of modules and the central part are made of ABS plastic. The bottom and top cover of the body of the central part is equipped with perforations for the cooling system.
